Our Hospice 33rd Annual Free Summer Concert featuring headliner, Survivor, presented by Faurecia.

(May 29, 2019 - Columbus, Indiana)  Our Hospice of South Central Indiana proudly announces that Survivor whose Grammy award winning hit, “Eye of the Tiger” was the #1 song for 7 weeks in 1982, will perform at the Our Hospice 33rd Annual Free Summer Concert on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, August 31, 2019.

Legendary rock band Survivor is embarking on their next chapter with a new member who has given new life to one of rock ‘n’ roll’s preeminent bands. With 22-year-old Nashville resident Cameron Barton assuming lead vocalist duties, the group will take their trademark arena rock sound to their loyal and devoted fan base.

Survivor released their first album in 1980 on Scotti Brothers. Their first Top-40 on the Hot 100 came the next year with “Poor Man’s Son.” Their big break would come in 1982 when the band was asked by Sylvester Stallone to provide the theme song for Rocky III. That single, “Eye Of  The Tiger,” hit # 1 – staying there for seven weeks, winning a Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, a People’s Choice Award, Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination. The song came in at #18 on the “Top 100 Singles” chart in Billboard‘s 100th Anniversary issue and it’s well over the 7 million mark worldwide on iTunes, where it’s currently holding strong at #9 on their “Top Soundtrack” chart. The band also struck paydirt as a result of a Stallone movie when “Burning Heart” appeared on the soundtrack of Rocky IV in 1985, hitting #2 on the singles chart.

The band’s Vital Signs record was another huge success, peaking at #16 on Billboard‘s “Top 200 Albums” chart thanks to the Billboard Top-20 hits “I Can’t Hold Back” (#13), “High On You” (#8) and “The Search Is Over” (#4). With a new team on board and new energy in the air, the future couldn’t be brighter for Survivor!

“We are very excited to have Survivor perform at the Our Hospice’s 33rd Free Summer Concert.” said Laura Leonard, Our Hospice President. “The announcement of the headliner for the Summer Concert is one of the special things I get to do each spring and we anticipate another exciting event to share with our community members and fans.”

“We are also excited to bring back The Woomblies Rock Orchestra as the opening act. The Woomblies opened the Summer Concert in 2017 and we wanted to bring back this crowd favorite again this year,” continued Leonard.

The Woomblies Rock Orchestra is a powerhouse of talent. 9-musicians, including a 4 piece string section, playing some of the greatest Rock and Motown music ever written. Music from Rock bands like ELO, Moody Blues and Led Zeppelin - and greats like Al Green and The Four Tops. Lush vocal harmony and impressive musicianship make the WRO a must see in Indianapolis.

The Woomblies Rock Orchestra features Phil Pierle - Guitar, Vocals, Paul Holdman - Guitar, Vocals, Brant Milholland - Bass, Vocals, Jamey Reid – Drums, Greg McGuirk – Piano, Grover Parido – Cello, Julie Scull – Violin, Allison Emeritt – Violin and Melinda Riley - Viola
