Our Hospice of South Central Indiana

In 1994, the Hospice Board determined that it should pursue the development of a Hospice Center for short and/or long term residential stays and for episodes of acute patient care as needed. A Hospice Steering Committee was appointed to create a master plan, raise funds for the facility and see the building project to completion.

A collaborative arrangement was formed with the Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation to work together to raise the needed 4.9 million dollars to build the Hospice Center.  A Capital Campaign Committee was formed and the fund drive was officially launched at the Hospice annual Concert held on September 1, 2000.

Construction began on the new Hospice Center in November 2002. The 32,000 square foot building with a 12,000 square foot basement includes:

• Fourteen private patient rooms on the ground floor
• A bereavement center to serve families and community members
• An educational center for the community and health care providers on end-of-life issues and pain and symptom control
• Office space for the clinical and administrative personnel.

The first patient admitted to the new inpatient facility was on February 17, 2004. Hundreds of patients in the 16-county service area have benefited from inpatient services.

Gift Shop

The Our Hospice gift shop offers a wide variety of merchandise, from everyday items to unique finds at great prices. In addition to snacks and toiletries there are many wonderful gift ideas available. The shop carries an extensive selection of the Willow Tree Collection with over 50 collectibles. Seasonal items are carried to accommodate holiday needs.

The office of Our Hospice of Decatur County was established in the fall of 1991 when an agreement was signed with Decatur County Memorial Hospital to help coordinate Our Hospice services in the Decatur County area.  In early 1994, an advisory committee comprised of area community leaders was formed to help advise and promote Our Hospice of Decatur County.    In June of 1994, an annual golf tournament was first held to raise funds for patients and families served by Our Hospice of Decatur County.

Because of continued growth of the program, the office was moved over the years to larger office locations, and today Our Hospice of Decatur County is located at 925 E. Main Street, Greensburg, Indiana.    

The Decatur office staff serves families and patients in Decatur, Shelby, Rush and Franklin Counties.

The office of Our Hospice of Jennings County was established in the fall of 1991 when an agreement was signed with Jennings County Hospital to help coordinate Our Hospice services in the Jennings County area.

In early 1994, an advisory committee comprised of area community leaders was formed to help advise and promote Our Hospice of Jennings County. Also started during that year was the annual fundraising event, "Work from the Heart" to raise funds for patients and families served by Our Hospice of Jennings County. The event changed over the years, and is now an annual dinner, dance and auction.

Because of continued growth of the program, the office was moved over the years to larger office locations, and today Our Hospice of Jennings County is located at 245 Norris Avenue, North Vernon, Indiana.
