Columbus Regional Health is pleased to welcome two new members to its comprehensive orthopedic surgical services team – ROSA Knee System and Mako SmartRobotics – two state-of the-art robotically assisted surgical systems designed to enhance partial and total joint replacement procedures. 

Joint replacement services through CRH offer a true team approach to care, comprised of the surgeon and surgical support staff, advanced technology, therapies and patient input, to ensure the best possible outcome. Collectively, the surgeons possess more than 100 years of experience. Both robotics systems leverage surgeon expertise to provide finite precision, less invasive measures and faster, easier recovery time. In addition to providing excellent joint replacement surgeries in the region, Columbus Regional Health is the only medical facility in the southcentral Indiana region to offer both the ROSA and Mako robotic surgery systems. 

ROSA Knee is a robotically-assisted surgical system designed to help perform total knee replacement surgery.  The system enables surgeons to use computer and software technology to control and move surgical instruments, allowing for greater precision and flexibility during procedures. The Mako SmartRobotics system combines three key components: 3D CT-based planning, AccuStopTM haptic technology and insightful data analytics, into one platform that has shown better outcomes for total knee, total hip and partial knee patients.

Orthopedic surgeons have already begun performing surgeries utilizing both robotics systems. The surgeons offering the use of this technology include, Drs. Woodley Desir, Doug Federle, Matt Lovell, Scott Slivka, Darryl Tannenbaum and Eric Tannenbaum.
