CRH Wound Center celebrates national recognition and awareness week

The Columbus Regional Health Wound Center is celebrating national recognition for excellence and working to raise awareness of the risks of chronic wounds during the eighth annual Wound Care Awareness Week, June 7 to June 11 2021.
The incidence of chronic wounds is rising with nearly 7 million Americans currently living with non-healing wounds, due to our aging population and increasing rates of diseases. A person with a wound has an average of three to four chronic conditions like diabetes, PAD, cardiovascular disease and COPD. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb. Even more alarmingly, 50 percent of people die within five years of amputation.
To support this underserved and growing population of people living with chronic wounds, the CRH Wound Center, in partnership national wound-healing expert network, Healogics, offers an evidence-based, systematic approach to advanced wound care. Treatments are the result of a team approach between the Wound Center’s physicians, nurses and the referring physician.
Under this comprehensive approach the CRH Wound Center has been named a Center of Distinction, Clinical Excellence Award and overall Center of the Year for 2020 from Healogics. This is the second year in a row the CRH Wound Center received Center of the Year and 5th year as a Center of Excellence and Distinction.
